You are correct, body language is the primary source of communication. No matter what language you speak, your body still speaks the language of confidence, insecurity, embarrassment, etc.
To show your confidence, do not cross your arms in front of you. If talking to another person, make sure you look them in the eye and nod during their portion of the conversation. Always act attentive.
If you are sitting, make sure you are always looking towards the speaker. This lets them know you are interested in what is being said and you are not afraid to admit that.
Good Luck!

Mostly posture for that first impression before speaking. Head up, shoulders squared, stomach in (as best as possible), chest out. Heck walk around like that a little bit in private and you will feel more confident.
Once conversation begins body language is still key, maintain strong eye contact, not alot of movinging about or figiting (shows disinterest even when it is just nerves), a deciecive tone of voice (not yelling or stern just strong like you really believe in what you are saying), nodding when appropriate (shows you are listening to them and agree with them - this makes them feel important too), and another good thing is lean in just a bit when they speak - this also shows you are listening and dont want to miss anything.

When someone is confident in my opinion they stand up straight with their head high and never to the floor. They can look directly at you without turning away and can smile of course which shows confidence in everyway. They don't fidget or squirm or bite their nails. They are not shy or soft spoken either. They don't give people funny looks as if they are not sure of themselves.

i think that for woman its the way they walk, the way they hold there head up, and the eyes... if your at a club and a girl looks at u and does thing with her eyes and walks straight over to you like she is on a runway would u have any doubt about how confident she is that she is going to have your full attention for the night. i think its something that women master and men kind of fall into

Walk with your head up and shoulders back. Smile and make eye contact with people as much as possible.
