Some years ago, our apartment building had a fire, the police were running up and down the halls screaming. We barely had enough time to grab the cat. It's the only time I've ever yelled at my wife. We both still have some post traumatic stress from it, can anyone relate? I never believed in that term until that event.

I can relate, a couple years ago, when my car decided to have an electrical fire.... I yelled at my friends to "Get out of the car", I barely had enough time to grab my purse, with my paycheck that I had just cashed!!

Anyways, my friends were greatful... and even up to this day, diff. car smells get me a little nervous....

omg, I can visualize her getting woke up from a sound sleep like that, I'd punch you!!! (j/k)

LOL

Man....i'm glad you at least got the cat out! It would be sad to see the poor thing go up in flames!! Although, seeing the cat may contribute to her post traumatic stress....it might be a good idea for your wife to have a bonfire and toss the cat in and watch it burn. I hear that can be very therapeutic....

no i don't think you were too harsh as you did it out of fear for her life. ptss is a hard thing to live with and you tend to over think things so don't be so hard on yourself. My father has been a sufferer of this syndrome for 15 years and he is recieving medical help and i would advise you and your wife to do the same as this could take over your lives if left un-attended. Good luck.

You did what you needed to do. If you were more calm about it, she would have stopped you to ask questions, and there wasnt time for that.
Extreme stress like that can make us do things we wouldnt normally do. You were trying to save her. There is no reason to feel guilty about that.

No you were not too harsh. You were scared and didn't want any harm to come to her. You wanted to get her attention fast and let her know that you both had to get out of there and fast.
