systemic weedkiller - Roundup/ Glyphosphate sprayed on the leaves

or just keep pulling it up.

you need to agree with your neighbour to remove it from both sides otherwise it will keep coming back, as you will have anticipated.

some gardeners put a physical barrier between them and the neighbour, like corrugated iron sheets pushed into the ground or wooden panels.

there is a way to get rid of it, but it needs patience.

Obviously you can't spray it with weed killer if it's growing over the plants. Everything will die...except for the bindwed.

Buy a liquid form of glyphosphate weed killer (roundup etc) and a bottle of cheap cooking oil. Doesn't matter which. Mix the two together 50/50 in a bowl or something. Buy a pair of marrigold gloves then dip you thumb and index finger in the mixture and pinch/squeeze every bindweed leaf you possibly can. Because of the oil mix, it won't get washed off if it rains and the plant will just keep soaking it up. Also it won't wash off on to other plants. It's a slow and boring procedure, but it'll kill off at least 99%. If anything comes up again, treat it again and then it'll all be gone. It may seem like a long winded way of doing things, but it does work and ultimately it's quicker and cheaper than trying to tackle the stuff year after year. Remember that this is a plant that seeds, so you'll have to keep an eye on it for about 3-4 years.

There are far worse weeds than bindweed. Mares tail, ground elder and the monster weed of them all....Japanese knot weed!

There is only one way to get rid of this - to dig it up, but every last bit. It breaks easily and each broken piece can shoot again so youhave to clean the ground thoroughly. It may take a couple of years but next year you should be able to notice a significant improvement. The difficulty will then be persuading your neighbours to do the same....

pull it all out , remove it from plants and trees , work back to your neighbours , and if they got a messy garden they wont care that you've pulled a lot of bindweed from the boundary. If they do notice perhaps it will prompt them into action, try not to use weedkiller as this only encourages the chemical companies.Once you have a big bag of bind weed - burn it.

I have a problem with this coming through my hedge from my neighbour's garden. It's hard to get it out of the hedge so I put canes in for it to grow up and then I either pull it up or spray with round-up. I have to keep doing this though - it can regenerate from a very small bit of root material and it's almost impossible to get this all out.

Have you pointed the problem out to your neighbour? As long as it is rampant in their garden you're going to have a problem.

Bine weed is the monster of all ,,
u have to dig every little inch of it out,,or a little trick, spray it with deisel. yes, deisel for the car.. though make sure the deisel dont touch nothing else, cause it will kill that too.
bine weed is the perfect weapon to mess someones garden, just throw an inch, onto the ground, and watch the results..

Without breaking the vine put as much of it in a plastic bag, douse with round up, then close the bag with a twist tie. Roundup won't get on your preferred plants, bind weed will get very very sick and die, especially if you use a more concentrated mix as opposed to the recommended mix. Killed poison ivy around my place this way -- yeah, tricky poison ivy, but I won.

good luck

keep uprooting eventually it will get exhausted. You might also dip the cut edges sticking up into Roundup. That will travel along it and kill the roots quickly.
