This should cost roughly $50.00 through a technician, but you should be able to do it yourself using the Microsoft Windows Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.
For assistance in doing so, please see the following page at Microsoft.com.....

Hope this helps!!

Hi AquaMarine
The easiest and best way because you will be adding more space to your new computer would be to open your old computer case up take out the screws in the back - there are two cables connected to your old hard drive one small 4 prong cable that is the power and one ide cable pull those out - remove the hard drive from the old case might have to remove two or four screws on the sides of the hard drive, then look on the bottom or the top of the hard drive there will be a picture on it to tell you the settings for making it a slave drive it is just a little jumper plug you have to put on the right pins then you can put the old hard drive into your new computer as a slave just connect it to the exisiting hard drive or cd ide cable that is in the new computer it should have two ide connections on it if not look in the old computer see if one of those plugs has the two connections enabling you to connect two drives onto the one ide connection (master/slave) then you will have all your stuff and will have increased your storage capacity on your new computer if you need more help you can email me i am a tech email me at rbctech@gmail.com
hope i helped i know it was long and maybe a bit confusing sorry but it is techy stuff lol

Most of the tech stores will charge you for this service. It could run up to $20/hr. Check with your local store. Most stores will only copy files that are in the My Documents area though.
If you comfortable open the new computer you can actually do this yourself. Simply make the old hard drive a secondary hard drive in the new system. You can then copy over the files you need.

As suggested try to do it yourself, because the people who do it will charge you far too much, my guess is by hour and if you have a lot of data it could take as long as 2 or 3 hours, then they are gonna charge you by hour (3 hundred or so dollars)
Now...you could also set it up on a small network and transfer the files that way
The external hard drive option works also
The buring to CD/DVD option only works if you have a small amt of data...for me that's not an option as i have 1.5 terabytes
So depending on the situation, i would suggest doing it yourself.

If you pull out the hard drive from the old com and put it inside the new one yourself it won't cost you a cent.

don't pay for that if possible, find a knowledgeable friend to do it if you can't yourself. Copy files using CD-R's, or if an older computer, use some external drive that can be connected to both (plug and play). For applications, find the executables and reinstall them on new pc.

Depends. If you knwo how to do it, FREE>
If you pay someone to do it, it depends on how much info you have that needs tranferred. I usually charge anywhere from 50-100 dollars to transfer someones Documents and Music and Pictures from one PC to another. I will not tranfer programs. Those need reinstalled. But I can save their program(s) settings most of the time and tranfer them

I charge $95 per hour to make a housecall. I'd guess it would take at least an hour, and probably two.
If you take it to a local computer store, you get their geeks (good luck!) for around $50 or so.

If you do it yourself it will cost you nothing.
Throw everything you want to keep into a folder and burn it to a CD. Programs can be reinstalled on the new PC.
