Express Rip is a program for Windows that lets you extract digital audio tracks directly from audio CDs to either Wave (wav) or MPEG Layer-3 (mp3) files on your harddrive. By using direct digital extraction pure audio quality is maintained and the process is very fast.
Express Rip is free. It is also the fastest CD ripper in the world using proprietary optimizing systems.

Use Realplayer.
It has ripping software, and it works pretty well.
The mp3's ripped from CD sound pretty damn good.
You can also rip CD's into m4a, wma, ra(Realaudio) and, Realaudio Lossless.
To get to the ripping feature,
select "tools", then "CD", and then "select Save CD tracks".
