Awful vaginal odor is a sign of an STD. Go to the E.R. or your local health department. They have things in place for people without insurance.
If you're washing regularly and practicing good hygeine, there will still be an "odor" but it will be a natural vagina odor, not what you're describing.
And don't douche until you get yourself checked out. That may make matters worse.
Good luck.

Bad odor is often an indicator of infection. You should really try to get to a doctor. There are gynecologists that will see you with a little bit down and you can make payments. It generally isn't that expensive to have a PAP done. Call around, do some research you might be surprised what you find out. Some clinics will see you with no money. You could be further damaging your body if it's an STD and you let it go for too long. I would take a warm bath and put 9-12 drops of essential oil Bergamot, Clary Sage, Tee Tree and Lavender. Do that for about 3 days. Drink a lot of cranberry juice. DON'T douche. Douching only pushes bacteria further into the vagina and any doctor will tell you the same thing. It could be a yeast infection and you could treat it as one but it won't help if that's not the problem. I am only suggesting and not guaranteeing...
P.s.
Though the vagina is naturally self cleaning you should still practice good hygiene!

Poor you.........
first of all don't use soap or soapy products in your bath or shower.
Whatever you do, don't use baby wipes, toilet wipes etc. These aren't meant for your foofy!
Use a vaginal soap-free wash. These cost less than a fiver.
Use it every time you go to the loo if possible, but not TOO intimately or you'll wash all the good bacteria out.
If this doesn't clear it up within a few days then its not just down to a 'period thing' and you've prob got an infection which will take some antibiotics to clear up.
If you are already run down or prone to thrush keep some Canestan or natural yogurt handy if you end up on antibiotics.
Hope you feel better soon. Cheers

You cannot really afford not to go to a doctor. If you are in the UK a doctor will not charge you.
An odour if it is so strong from this area could be a symptom of something that will need very speedy medical attention.
Washing with soap could cause you irritation and having a bath could bring on other infections such as cystitis.
Please see a doctor and best of luck.

Hi well sounds to me you may have a medical problem,if you have a bad odour it some times either you are not regular washing or you have a infection. The infection will only get better with antiobiotics from your Dr if not try some thing like canesten cream but this may not work thou if you do have an infection. You really need to see your Dr if you are having other symptoms just incase its something more urgent.Good Luck Oh yes i dont think you have std either unless you have been having unprotected sex,you would get more syptoms then this.

You might want to consider going to a free clinic, strong vaginal odor could mean there is an underlying medical condition that needs to be addressed. In the meantime try mixing a small amount of white distilled vinegar with water in an old fashioned douche bag, that I'm sure you can still get from a drug store. But seriously try to get to a doctor as quickly as possible. Good Luck.

I red an article about a woman who gave birth but the doctors forgot to remove the placent and there was a smell of a dead animal coming from her vagina.I hope that's not the case with you..If the odour is not because of poor hygiene ( or none ), then you MUST go for a check up, don't be ignorant about your own health. Good luck !

Have ago with some canesten cream just in case there is an infection. Drink lots of water, you can buy some vaginal spray from the chemist, also wipe with wet wipes but not perfumeed ones. DO NOT Spray perfum or deodorant down there. If you still have a smell after 2-3 days please go see your Dr somethings are not replaceable.........

The doctor is free. It smells bad for a reason, probably some infection. Whatever you do do not use soap, as someone mentioned, to wash your vagina, it is to harsh for those downstairs bits. Use a mild soap designed for feminine hygiene.
