1. It is not the governments job to.

2. Health care is not mandatory.

3. Most people who are poor make bad choices. There is an arrogance that people feel they must have all that they want and put in as much effort as they feel.

If you chose to work at minimum wage, you get what you get. If you are willing to learn more skills, then you can get paid more.

The government creates many of the health hazards. Just look at all the people with cancer that live under high power lines. Just look at all the people suffering from cancer that live near any Nuclear Testing Site. Just look at all the years that the government denied there was any hazard to living with asbestos in our homes. The government's denial of global warming and constant drilling for oil have been the ruination of the American eco system.

During Ronald Reagan's entire stint as president he denied there was such a thing as AIDS, so that no government money was spent on research, prevention or treatment. If he had stepped up to the plate in the year 1980, and led the nation for research of this horrific disease perheps we could have come up with a cure decades ago.

Now, because of all this, the government must step up to the plate in the year 2006 to help these suffering Americans with healthcare for many of the problems they have caused.

The government doesn't pay for anything. The government collects taxes from you, and you pay for everything. By the way, I have a sore throat, send me some money so I can go to the doctor. I'll be waiting.(but I won't be holding my breath)

Because the GOVERNMENT doesn't earn any money ! If the GOVERNMENT pays for for healthcare that means my income is being taxed to provide YOU and others with healthcare. That is money out of my pocket that I can use to provide my family (the people I WORK to provide for) with better health care, food, housing or educational opportunities. You see that's called being RESPONSIBLE.

I think I can safely speak for the vast majority of Americans when I say we're already over taxed and fed up with Government give aways of our hard earned money. For those of you the honestly feel you don't pay enough in taxes please feel free to get out your personal check book and send the government more money so that you will feel better about yourselves.

Government 'pay'? Government doesn't 'pay' anything - people and businesses pay for all the 'free' things via taxes.

For government to 'pay' for your 'free' healthcare, it means that people and businesses will be taxed at significantly higher rates. There is countless economic history data that shows that higher tax rates and greater government control of the economy results in less economic growth, increased unemployment and less efficient service.

I have seen no proof or evidence that the government can be trusted to competently run a lemonade stand, let alone one sixth of our economy. I'm not willing to stake my health on it, either.

Becaust the responsibility for maintaining a person's health falls to that individual.

If the government provides health care, it will be poor in quality and ludicrously expensive because in addition to paying for the health care itself, we'll have to pay for the several levels of government beuracracy to manage it.

I don't want t pay that, do you?

It's immoral and inefficient.

Immoral: stealing my money (taxes) to pay for my neighbor's healthcare when he chooses to smoke, drink, eat junk food, and never exercise, is just plain immoral. If you want to do those things, that's fine with me, just don't steal my money to pay for it.

Inefficient: all monopolies are inefficient and end up costing more. That's why we have laws against monopolies, because they are bad. Why do you want a monopoly controlling your health?

Because the government is NOT responsible for your well being, you are. If you want health care pay for it. If you want insurance pay for that too. I have no responsibility to pay for your health care or anyone else's except mine. That is what it boils down to when the government pays for something is that other people are paying for what you want but don't want to have to pay for.
