A man became a convicted sexual predator for molesting a child based on the child’s testimony. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison. After 8 years of being beaten, raped, tormented, ostracized… he was finally proven INNOCENT based not only on DNA, but the child told the police AFTER the DNA came out that her parents told her to blame that man. Apparently, the father had raped the child (proven by DNA) and the mother didn’t want the father to get into trouble so they wanted to blame a patsy. BASED solely on the child’s testimony and the fact the offender didn’t have an alibi is what convicted him. Now you tell me… is this right. You can say it will be all right now that the truth is out, but…
1)A mans life is DESTROYED
2)No one will hire the man because he is was “hardened”
3)It doesn’t matter how innocent he is, the community will (at least in the back of their mind) think of him as a child molester.
Where is the justice in this? This just makes me PUKE.

By the way… this “sexual predator” is my father. NOTHING anybody can say can change the fact that his life was ripped out from under him.

Also... The community doesn't want to see the father convicted because (get this)
1. He is "respected"
2. It happened so long ago
3. Some even say that the child is now lying (even though DNA proves the father did it) - she somehow got into the evidence room and planted the DNA.

All I can say is that I will pray for you and your family. Nothing can undo the pain and torment that your father had to go through, nothing can take that away.

But I agree they need to prosecute the father regardless of his "reputation".

Why can't your father sue for damages?

Yes, it is quite an injustice that your father was wrongly convicted. I'd like to think that if I was in the same position, that I'd still have the strength in me to fight till I didn't have any more breath in my body, but for someone to go through all that and to have lost eight years... I don't know if I'd just hope that it goes away... or perhaps move elsewhere to get away from all of the madness.

But being the Libra I am, this disgusts me and if I were an attorney, I'd take a case like this on pro-bono. I wish the best for you and your family and I hope that the incestuous jerk gets what's coming to him.

Remember, reputation is just what other people think you are. Character is what you really are. Think about getting a lawyer and seeking damages for defamation of character, purjery, whatever. It might not bring in a ton of money, but it might be able to provide some small measure of vindication.

Godspeed to you and your dad.

I understand your anger, but no-one ever said that life is fair, he who has money gets away with murder or worse. This is totally wrong and I am afraid that we the poorer people get shafted.

Welcome to the real world that a lot of us have lived for years. And that is one reason I don't agree with the death penalty. We should have capital punishment but you can't depend on our justice system to do it right.
