Gentlemen, have you been to a tailor and asked which side you dress on?

If you do not know what this means I am not going to tell you as it is about the oddest thing in the entire universe

(except for the gimpess I ended up with last night, but that is a different story)

Sure...I dress on the right. On a related issue, my tailor knows to NEVER make shorts that go above the knee cap....

Of course. All tailors ask this question. The tailor must make the appropriate fitting to ensure the trousers drape properly.

At one shop, the salesgirl actually enters the dressing room to take several measurements. I have purchased far too many trousers at this shop. They do fit quite well.

It's totally normal to be asked that by a tailor if you are a man.
That was he leaves a bit more room on the side "you dress on".
My grandfather used to be a tailor. I should know ;)

For those uninformed, what the tailor is asking is on which side you keep your, erm..., "equipment".

And, for what it's worth, I dress to the left. I attribute this to being right handed. For me, when "putting it away" with the right hand it just seems to fold naturally to the left.
