sadly it can be done over and over and over again
if you even bothered to mic the crank journals and replaced the rod bearing with the appropriate size, how on earth are you going to know if the rod and cap are concentric without pulling them and having them checked and /or reconditioned ?
then there is the matter of the surface area of the crank journal being smooth other than to the naked eye
even though it is smooth to the touch and shiny i bet a buck to a cluck that it is not
if you are trying to save bucks or dumping the car, .....well........
good luck
there is a goo chance of spinning the new bearing causing even more damage
to answer the question .....yes it is possible
it is also possible to survive a game of Russian roulette

Yes if you can get the oil pan off without pulling the engine, it is possible to install rob bearings with out pulling the engine. It depends on the make and model of the vehicle. Some vehicles you must pull the engine to get the oil pan off. It just depends.

Only on certain cars where you can get the oil pan off with out hitting the crossmember or anything else that might get in the way. Then you have to worry about getting the oil pan to seal up when you put it back together. Had real good luck on an escort.
Some chevrolet trucks.
