I think baby murderers and "alternative lifstylers" should be relegated to some third party. Why have the Democrats allowed these oddities in their once stong party?

Democrats have several candidates that do not favor abortion rights.
If you are a single-issue voter, I feel sorry for you.
You have been duped .
Ever notice that Republicans talk in code about this? They say they 'support rights of human of all ages' or 'believe in the rights of the child AND the mother'.
They will never come right out in broad public and say they will work to make abortion illegal - because the backlash would take them straight out of office. Even parts of their Republican core would turn against them.
And the same goes for amending the US Constitution to ban gay marriage - hands off my Constitution - marriage is a states issue.

They need to provide a clear strategy for winning the war on terror and protecting US lives and interests that is clearly different from the approach that the republicans have. Cutting and running is not a logical solution to ending terrorism. They need to convey this plan prior to elections and not just say, 'We will tell you after we are elected and in office.'
And yes, to your point...staying away from exteme views and presenting a more moderate view would help.

Good question, why have democrats allowed that? The Democratic party is NOT the strong party it once was. Its been hijacked by flag burning baby killers and turned all of America off.
To top it off, look who they appointed to lead the party. Howard Dean is a joke. How can you respect a party when they choose someone like Dean to represent them? HUGE mistake on their part. Most Americans view him as a looney left wing extremist.
Wouldnt that be like the Republican Party nominating Ann Coulter to lead the conservatives? I happen to like Ann but Im smart enough to know that she is a polarizing force. Many people do not like her, same as Dean. (Only Deans an idiot....... YAGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!)
