Yes. It is called an episiotomy. It is done to prevent tearing during birth. Cutting is safer and there is less damage and loss of blood than if it is allowed to tear naturally as the baby is born. By cutting, and then stitching the incision it also shortens the healing time by a wweek or so. Also, you must remember that prior to the episiotomy a shot of local anesthetic is given to prevent pain, whereas if it is allowed to tear on its own the local might not be given in time and the pain is far worse.

I don't think the cut is quite that big, but yes. It is called an episiotomy. They may or may not do this right before you deliver if you are going to tear. This topic is always open for debate. Some dr.'s think that the cut heals better and others say the tear heals better? It is something you will need to bring up with your dr. to see what belief he practices. I tore with my first delivery and had no problems with recovery so I cant give a comparison. I have read that they do inject the site with a local like novicane so that you dont feel them cutting you.

No. Usually and episiotomy is 1cm or less. They only need to make a 3 inch incision for a C-Section. It would be ridiculously to cut that much for an episitomy.

Incidentally, episiotomies are NOT necessary except in very dire circumstances. Doctors just cut them to "get the baby out faster" so they spend less time in delivery.

To avoid tearing, some people have what's called an episiotomy to open the vagina up more for delivery. I don't know how or why a doctor determines to do this for some patients and not all, but yes, it is correct that this is something that is done.

It is essential to save the life of a child as the neck may get strangulated. There is a treatment called PICHU in Ayurveda which helps to improve the elasticity of delivery path and hence doesn't need the vaginal cut. This is successful even in cases of first delivery at the late age.

Yeah, quite a lot the same position that maximum adult men may take an better 3 inches. yet regardless of this, i'm quite short. i'd get better action if I further 3 inches to my average authentic. till I take the three inches downstairs, yet then walk round without pants or underclothes. for sure if I do this, i am going to likely finally end up in penal complex, and that i really do not choose that style of action. So, i am going to easily be 3 inches taller, please.

Some doctors do this as routine, it's called an episiotomy. Some say they do this to prevent random tearing, others say it helps aid the baby out easier. If the baby's head is to big for the opening the doc. will cut as far back as the rectum..ouch!

They do in the event that you do not stretch far enough for the baby to come out. Of course they try to make you stretch with the perineal massage before they decide to cut you. They cut in order to keep you from tearing. Sometimes they do have to cut that much, but you won't notice it if they do because you are already stretched out and the sensation from the stretching is all you'll feel.

Yes in certain cases they do. It's better than tearing and it heals better with a clean cut.

With my they had to cut me in a star burst pattern (My son was HUGE) 4 different times in order for him to come out. Which they said was better than cutting from vagina to anus. I would trust they would know what they were doing. I healed nicely, it took a little longer.
