My mom went to the doctor a couple weeks ago for some tests, shes about 50 yrs. old and was having female problems, I guess the doctor called her and told her she had to go to the gynecologist for a biopsy. I have a vague idea what it is but I would like to know more about what could be going on with my mom.

depending on the nature of the female problems the location of biopsy is determined. vaginal bleeding would suggest a utreine biopsy, abnormal pap would suggest a cervical biosy possibly, breat lump would indicate a breat lump biopsy. for biopsythey take a tissue sample from the location with a needle, fairly benign procedure, risk of bleeding and infection are there but <1%, mostly, good luck

A biopsy is where they take a small piece of the lump or tumor they found and have it tested to see if they need to remove or if it is cancerous.
