FEAR and STUPIDITY, within my family you'd see the United Nations and they all get along, they share cultures ask questions. I have a story for you my ex-in laws are German WW2 type, in the 21 years that I dated and married their daughter, they never wanted to meet or here anything about me, until we had kids, my daughter and son speak German and translate for me. My kids went to Berlin in 2004 where I met their mother to visit my ex-in laws and they loved them even tho for years it was said that this would never happen, my kids are now 5 & 6, I'm 43 my ex-wife is 45, I was stationed in West Berlin 82-85, I went there to study Hitler, and let me tell you it's not what you think, not at all. I will go back next year with ex-wife and kids, I have to see this city without the wall, and may I say that I went through Check Point Charlie & visited what was then East Berlin and there was no hate there as well, you all it takes is (1) person to spread something & others to not have a mind of their own, and they just fall in, by the way my ex-in laws want to meet me now.
I stated that within my family you'd see the UN, I have Mexicans, Canadians, French, Britons, from Italy and other countries, so go figure.

I believe the main cause for hate is, that it's easier to criticize and blame the "other" than to search for our own faults and correct them. I could not be wrong, could I? So it must be the other!

None of us is perfect! When accept that part we may also be able to make some concessions for the "other" not being perfect.

But the main trend today is to look out for number 1. Compassion is looked at as a weakness.

People can't accept differences. It's the old "my way, my religion, my race, my, my, me, me, me" is the best and only, etc., etc., etc. No willingness to understand, change, trust or learn about OTHER cultures, beliefs or anything else. How about we are ALL EARTHLINGS / of the HUMAN race. But, alas, not much hope for that belief becoming widely accepted. See we're back to ACCEPTANCE again.

because benevolence and goodwill are viewed as weakness, and society has become a struggle to stay on top, with every single person competing with each other, instead of cooperating.

it's much easier to be negative and hate on everything.

Many animals are territorial. An individual from another group invades the animal attacks. It is just their nature. It is our nature to hate and fight anyone that is different. Trouble is, we have developed some pretty bad weapons to fight with.

One example, small-minded politicians see war as an answer. But when you kill someone, you make an enemy of those left behind. So war feeds on itself. We have to be able to find answers that don't involve death.

Many reasons. The one that seems least understandable to me, is that they believe God is on their side.
