I took my birth control pills on the first day of my period, the information leaflet said if i start the pill on the first day then no back up is required, so like 6 days into the pills i had unprotected sex. Even if the information insert said no back up is required should i be worried? I have taken the pills everyday correctly at the exact same time.

Well yes and no, most pills recommend that you wait to have unprotected sex till six weeks after you have started.

Some girls react to the pills differently than others. Meaning, some are affected by the pill the first week, while others have to wait 3-6 weeks.

It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

My suggestion to you is having protected sex for a little while to insure your safety. Don’t freak out if you miss your period… when I first started taking the pill, it messed me all up and I skipped a few periods. Give your body 6 months to fully adjust to the pill. After that amount of time, you’ll be able to predict what will happen in your cycle like clock work.

<< if you do miss your period, just to be safe take a pregnancy test 19 days AFTER your last period… and then once more a week or two after to insure you have the real answer>>

I wish you the best of luck and stay safe!!

I would be slightly concerned. Most pills are not highly effective until after a full month on them. In fact I know several women who are now mothers that have done what you did. What I would say is don't panic. Just use the backup until your next cycle. Chances are you did not conceive. But if you continue without a back up this month I would not be surprised if you become pregnant. Good luck! :)

Yes. Anytime you have sex you can get pregnant, whether you're on the pill or using another birth control method. The hormones may not be right for your body and subsequently not work.

well u're supposed to wait 2 wks before having unprotected sex because the pills don't kick in right away, at least that's what i was told. Ask ur doctor.
