I don't know. No one alive knows. It's also not a question philosophy can deal with.

Let me answer your question through a story: when I was 15, I had just left a harrowing ordeal and was in a much better situation, healing on many levels. I started to have all of these "spiritual-type dreams", for instance, I dreamt of a silent, pleasant chinese man standing alone in the midst of a throng of chattering people- this chinese man was holding a sign that read TAO, which is a chinese faith that I had never heard of before.. in another dream, I saw a book someone was holding that had strange, yet familiar, writing on it- I immediately knew I had to have that book and that it would help me-- I later found out that the writing on the book was in hebrew characters (judaism).

Around the same time, I had a dream whereupon I was going through the proverbial "dark tunnel with a light at the end" and I knew that I was dying, just by the feelings and other context in the dream. I hesitated right near the end of the tunnel and heard a voice, "Would you be willing to give it (material things, greed, ignorance, etc.) all up for me?"

Without another thought, I took the last step- the first step into the light- and I knew that by taking that step that I would die, leaving behind everything & everyone I loved, but I felt that I had been challenged by my Higher Spiritual Force to do so.. and I found myself sitting up in my dark room on my bed, having bolted up from a very sound, eerie consciousness.

I think that I may have experienced a "metaphysical kind of death", and I think that may be the closest type of experience that may answer your question- a type of "near-death experience." My life has been different from that point on.

Hope this helps.

When we die, we go to our God that gave us life, but in the meanwhile, we will reside in a spirit world--paradise for the righteous and a prison spirit world for the unrighteous.

Those living in the prison world will receive priesthood holders from paradise and will hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. If they accept the teachings given, those unrighteous spirits may eventually move into paradise once certain conditions are met.

When Jesus comes again, he will bring forth the resurrection of us all, and with the help of the Twelve Apostles, will sit at the judgment bar to judge us. Only then will we all go to that eternal reward we will have earned.

I will be 25 again, my knee that was shattered in a hit and run will be cured and I can do 10 and 15 mile runs again. All the girls will be beautiful and hot. Booze will flow in streams, cuban cigars will grow on trees, and I will be able to have quiet time whenever I want to just sit and read all the books ever written or just comtemplate existence.

The eletrical impulses within the synapsis of the brain ceases to exist.... where does this energy go? hmmmm, perhaps it stays around for awhile or dissipates into the random nothingness from whence it came.

I believe everything is created from energy, not from the will of some deity, and that we return to the universal energy pool when our bodies die.
