I`m not a big Tom Cruise fan, but he did a good job in this film. I think the movie did have some effect on people. It made them realilize that even if the war was wrong, the men and women who served in it were not the bad guys they thought. They were over there doing the job they were trained and ordered to do. That war is no different than any other war. Men and women die in war on both sides and nothing changes that. The ones that don`t, come back changed themselves either physically or emotionally. This movie helped some people come to terms with that and helped open doors to those vets for help and the recognition they deserved.

Hi there;

Born on the Fourth of July, is the best selling autobiography of Ron Kovic, a paralyzed Vietnam War veteran who became an anti-war activist. Taking its title from Kovic's actual birthday, July 4th 1946, the book was adapted into a 1989 Academy Award winning film by Oliver Stone and Ron Kovic, starring Tom Cruise as Ron Kovic. Oliver Stone wanted to film it in Vietnam, but due to the fact that relations were not normalized with Vietnam, it was filmed in the Philippines.

Born on the Fourth of July was written in Santa Monica, California during the fall of 1974 in exactly one month, three weeks and two days. It tells the story of Kovic's life growing up in Massapequa, New York, joining the Marines going to Vietnam, getting shot, finding himself wheelchair bound, and eventually starting a new life as an anti-war activist.

In 1989 a film adaptation of the book was released. Oliver Stone wrote the screenplay, produced and directed the film.

Cast:

Main actors:

* Tom Cruise as Ron Kovic
* Kyra Sedgwick as Donna
* Raymond J. Barry as Mr. Kovic
* Willem Dafoe as Charlie
* Frank Whaley as Timmy

Well, the film is very good and it received the Academy Awards for Best Picture. I personally didn't like it much, I guess thas me. I kinda like some war movies, not all of them but somehow I didn't really understood this film, but I would recommend it for people that like War Movies.

This movie stars Tom Cruise and is about a Vietnam Vet
who comes home and is treated like crap. He is not given the Hero's Welcome that all of our Vets deserve. It is about how he was all for going to Vietnam to fight for his country and how he changed his mind when he got home living with the way he was treated. The man had to sit in his own waste!!!! Disgusting how we treated our Vets and I was only a year old when this happened!!
Anyway, very good movie and makes you think about our government and what is right and wrong.

Suposedly it is a true story about a viet nam vet who was wounded in the war and came home and had trouble adjusting.
It was a good movie and even though as a rule do not like Cruise movies, I thought that this one was a good movie. My favs. are true stories.

Honestly, I can't remember a thing about it except it's about a guy that was in the Vietnam War. I think it had Tom Cruise in it and I'm not into him.
