Without a doubt it was Brick. If you have ever studied film and are familiar with the Film Noir genre you will feel unimaginable glee when watching this film. It is a Film Noir set in high school and a perfect hard-boiled detective story starring Joseph Gordon Levitt. Every film student who watching it loved it. So did the professors. It is almost too clever in fact. An incredible film.
BUT- my favorites of the year were Sin City and Serenity. Sin City is also a film noir! Serenity was the conclusion of an old Fox show called Firefly that was a "sci-fi western." You you are at all a geek you will love it.
Of course there is batman begins which both men and women love but for very different reasons.
