There are three fantastic products that work on scars, in my opinion better than cocoa butter. They are all at different price points, but Mederma is a scar gel that is available in the drugstore, Egyptian Magic cream which is available on their website, but is only recommended for newer scars and if you don't have any bee allergies because it contains bee pollen ingredients. The last one is expensive but also very effective, and that is, the original creme de la mer. It's very concentrated so you will not have to purchase frequently if you are just using it as a scar cream (although it is an amazing face moisturizer which is its original purpose).

Is it an old or new scar?

When my son had to get MANY stitches on his forehead, they told me to pop open a Vitamin E pill and squeeze it onto his scar.

They also make products at local drugstores you can try out. Mederma is a good one to use I believe. I've heard great things about it.
