The younger generation (myself included), rebel against their parents/grand-parents' ideas of what is right and proper. We want to express our individualtiy, and sometimes thats not the greatest idea in the world. The same thing happened when our parents were younger, and when their parents were younger. Society evolves with each passing generation. Who knows, maybe by the time my kids or grand kids come around, I'll think that they're improper and uncivilized.

I would disagree because to paint society with such a broad brush is incorrect. Which society are you referring to just America or the whole world? Define class and civility there are different definitions through out the world. The British probably felt the same way about us during the revolutionary war.

A. Because parents do not teach their children manners anymore. Children are not allowed to be anything less than constantly cute, always right, and of course, total geniuses!
B. No one in society is forced to take responsibility for their actions any more - anything you do wrong is someone else's fault. Even bad habits aren't your fault. Smoke? Blame big tobacco. Fat? Blame Mc Donald's or the government.
C. No one has a sense of shame anymore. We consider shame to be a bad thing, when in reality, it limits bad behavior. Any and all behavior is considered acceptable nowadays, from having multiple children out of wedlock whom you can't support, to choosing crime as a career path. Nothing is WRONG anymore, and besides, it's not your fault anyway, so why should you be ashamed at bad behavior or an immoral lifestyle?
By the way, this isn't meant to say that you need to live your life according to religious standards - that's not what I mean. For example, having a baby at 17, wrapping him in newspaper, and leaving him in a dumpster, is wrong because it just IS, not because the church or whatever says so.

Ignorant self centered adolescent "gimmy mine" adults who won't grow up and who choose to blame children for their own misguided values and failure as parents.

because people don't teach thier children proper manners these days. They coddle them and instead of giving them a good spanking they give them "time outs" where thier kids go to thier rooms and are able to play video games, watch tv or listen to music and talk on the phone- some punishment huh?

Bleeding heart sissys have taken the definition of child abuse way too far. While it is a serious problem it should not be considered child abuse to spank a child.

The simple reason is because kids are not being taught. Today kids have all the rights and parents have almost none. I was in a store one day and a kid was being so fresh to the man behind the counter. The mother? acted like it was the cutest thing she had ever seen. My kids were taught the magic words, Thank you, Please, Your welcome, is it alright. To this day they thank me. I am a grandmother and I still believe that a pat on the back is good for a child if its given hard enough, low enough and often enough. Please, I don't want to hear about child abuse. I am not saying beat a child. Of cause not but a smack on the backside is not going to kill them. Children who are being abused usually are the kids who hide and be quiet not the fresh one you see today.

Unfortunately the bad ones crank out the most babies.

If you are good, go somewhere else to have children, for their own benefit.
