No, it's not just you. I have bought things from HSN that were VERY disappointing compared to how they represented them on TV and their demonstrations.

QVC is better about that.

The reason they sell that junk on tv is because noone will buy it anywhere else. Stay away from home shopping networks, they're nothing but crap.

Mom bought a NASCAR wall clock that turned out to be a dud because there were no minute/hour markings on it (she later donated it to a thrift store).

I have fallen into the same trap, and yes alot of the things are junk. if it's not junk, i see the same thing i bought from tv in a store for a cheaper amount. my new rule is if i can't touch it, i won't buy it.
