If you were around a barking dog while pregnant, the baby will probably be used to the noise. Babies like noise better than complete silence anyhow. If there is a lot of barking though, maybe investing in a white noise machine is a good idea.

My dog would wake our baby with the first bark. We got a shock collar for him (I know some people will think it's awful, but we tried everything else and didn't want to get rid of the dog), it shocked just a little at the first bark, then more each bark after. However it wasn't enough the first time so he barked once anyway and still woke the baby. So we ended up having to keep him outside. But I would say a baby will react differently to any noise and you'll just have to watch and see what keeps them awake and what it sleeps through. I keep a fan running in my baby's room and that helps some, but he's not a very good sleeper anyway.

The barking could be keeping your little one awake if it is near by him. It may startle him but if it's barking outside or in another part of the house for example then I wouldn't think that it would bother the baby too much. They are used to hearing all the noises from inside your womb all the time. You might try and get them one of those bears that you turn on and it plays a noise very similar to your heartbeat. I know it has helped for many children I have been around-especially newborns. Good luck!!

I was amazed when we brought our newborn home from the hospital that our dog barking never even made her flinch or wake up. She was probably so used to hearing the dog when she was inside me that she was used to it. All kids are different though.

I can NEVER sleep when I'm barking, so I am sure a newborn couldn't do it either.
