A very good co-worker has been called up for service in Iraq. I have received his address, and would very much like to send a 'care package' to him - what things do you think would be best - I'd like to send him some things that will be truly useful and needed, aside from cookies and whatnot. Any suggestions will be very helpful, thank you.

I was prior-service military myself. Things like food probably wouldn't be a good idea...but the long lasting stuff..if they like it...is good. Maybe their favorite beef jerky or Fiddle-Faddle something that won't get stale would be quite a TREAT! I would probably get magazines (guy: Maxim or FHM; girl: Cosmo) and if you are close to their friends from home get a card and have everyone sign it (preferrably a message). Also, disposable camera's are GREAT too and we cannot forget long-distance or overseas phone cards. You could even put a collage of pictures or drawings together on a postcard or cardboard cut out of their favorite places to visit/hang-out at or of other friends at home. Just be creative MOSTLY...they will always eat the food but what would last them a lifetime to enjoy and even look back at when they got home. It would show you what encouraged them to get through rough times away from home. God bless them and SUPPORT THE TROOPS!

Get everyone to sign a card and put some special thought's in it.(encouragment) Also a newest newspaper so they can read something different, + they have crossword puzzle's in them. Mabey a book.
Candie's & goodies (homemade is alway's the best!) Pen's & paper. Picture's from home & of friend's. If you can a disposable camera. Hope that small list help's!

When I was in the military, I loved to get foods that I missed from back home. If you know some of his favorite candies or chips definitely send them. Photographs, magazines, and Cd's are great to get too. Include anything you think will make him feel a little like home.

Pat solutions do no longer serve your severe questions. i'm pleased with our military because my loved ones serve and performance served in it. the U. S. received its very advantageous liberty contained in the ingenious conflict, and we placed paid to Teutonic agression in WW1 and WW2. I agree, we've as a lot moral perfect to be in Afghanistan on the on the spot as we did to be in Vietnam 40 years in the past, in spite of the indisputable fact that it somewhat is only a hangover from the chilly conflict and the actual shown reality that we kissed Bin weighted down's *** and then lost administration, and that punishing Saddam for what Bin weighted down did is plenty like kicking your cat because your spouse received't sleep with you. Wishing you adore, laughter and song.

I've been sending my friend in Iraq things like coffee and his favorite snack foods. Letters are always welcomed. I also burn CDs for him. You wouldn't believe how much they appreciate things like snacks because they eat the same things over and over again every day.

kevlar jacket, no go... hes already got a very good one...

Send him things like journals, pens, maybe a bible if he's religious(altho there is no such thing as an Atheist in a foxhole...)

Most important thing is just letters from people knowing they care and miss him

I usually send my buddies stuff from home like:

cookies (any kind)
candies
crackers
party nuts
cards
that kind of stuff. Oh, and make sure there's a lot of it, so that s/he can share with his/her buddies.

Good luck.
