I believe that the person who asks for the date should pay for the date; however, that being said, I think that a woman should pay for herself if she feels like there is an expectation to "put out" on the part of the guy who asked her out. A wise woman covers herself no matter the situation.

A woman should never pay for herself on a date, especially at the start of dating.

Assuming that you are at the beginning of a relationship, I think whoever asked the person out for a date should pay, regardless of whether they are a man or woman. The whole idea of expecting a man to pay for you is very outdated. It's pretty hypocritical too, as women how can we demand total equality and then expect men to uphold this old tradition and always pay for us, and open doors for us... It doesn't make sense.

I think it is OK for a woman to pay on a date if she asked the other to go with (invited). But usually I see women trying to pay and if the man is true gentleman, he will end up paying. It all depends on the situation, if it a luncheon, meeting, or just friends date.

If you want to make sure they're not after your money, it could be a good tactic. Although an experienced prostitute/golddigger will actively hide her materialistic ulterior motives with potential long term partners/husbands. In their presence, golddiggers will share the expenses 50% to the last cent and they will also "put out". The only way you can ascertain someone's "value" is by assessing their values and behaviour. If they are slanderers, gossipers, manipulators, and you have self-respect, then you should expell them from your life. In the same way a self-respecting woman won't allow men to use them sexually. If you're looking for free sex, there is none. If you're willing to sell your soul to the Devil, you'll end up a divorce statistic, and she will certainly turn your kids against you too.

If a woman pays for herself, it's not a date but a Dutch Treat which means it is just buddies going out to amuse themselves together and be company for one another.

Sorry.

I don't agree that the man should always pay. If it is a first date and you asked him out, you should pay and vice versa. If you have been dating for a while I think you should take turns, or at least offer to pay. Some guys will refuse and some guys will accept, but they will appreciate the offer regardless.

I would never ask a woman to pay for her own way. But I'm kind of old school. If she said she really wanted to pay, I guess I wouldn't mind.

If a man asks a lady on a date, its like saying, I'd like to take you out and treat you to, drinks meal movie etc.....Its nice though if a woman offers to pay, its all part of courtship.
