I am a 2nd year college student. I am an Elementary Ed major but I am looking for some extra side money. I am not looking to make thousands but an extra two hundred dollars a month would be GREAT. I know I have to buy the 100 dollar starter kit. I don't really want to buy any wholesale product now, mainly because I don't have the money to. My questions are will not buying any wholesale hold me back alot and how does selling work if you dont have wholesale. I assume you just order as you go? I want to get answers from here because my director is too pushy.

I order as I go. I don't have inventory and it has NEVER been a problem for me. My customers have never had any issues with waiting 7-14 days for their product. If you don't have the money, don't get into debt. It's not worth it. Your initial order will have to be at least $400 retail in order to get the 50% wholesale cost (ultimately costing you $200). In order to continue to get the discount, you will need to order at least $400 in retail every three months OR if you let that lapse, you can place an order of $400 at any time within a year of your last order and still get the 50% wholesale. Before you sign up, make sure you have people that would at least be interested in trying Mary Kay. GL!

find out if you know anyone that uses mary kay or would want to hold a party for you before you get started so you know what kind of customer base you might have. you will hear from your director (and some other consultants) that "you can't sell from an empty store". this is true. however, if the people you are selling to don't mind waiting at first, you can build up an inventory to have on hand for them. here's how it works. you get the orders for product and get the money from your customer to place your order from the company. you can take this money and place your first order with the company. ask your director how to do this. if she's not willing to help you get started at a level you are comfortable with, and you really want to do this, find a director who will work with you, not push you into doing something you can't afford to do

Don't.

There, I said it. MK is a great company, but it's a tough job.

1. Like any sales job, you will be paid for selling. Do you like to sell stuff? Are you good at it? And if you're good at selling, why not apply for a sales job that would make you a lot more money?

2. Guess who is trying to recruit you? A good SALES person! And what are they doing to you? SELLING YOU on becoming a rep! Will they be calm and objective? NO! They are a SALES person, and it costs them virtually nothing for you to be hired!!!

3. 99% of those who try to sell Mary Kay are gone within a year. They get in, all excited, find out that thier friends already have a MK or Avon rep, and that's the end of their excitement.

I wish you luck. Again, if you wanna do sales, get a job (ie, telemarketing) or a job supporting sales people (insurance agency, realtor, etc).

My sister got hooked into that - they told her the only up front expense she would have was the kit - WRONG!! If you really want to be successful, they want you to buy a bunch of product to have on hand, they want you to wear only dresses to meeting's & such. If you don't want to buy the product to have on hand, you would order as you go, but they told my sister she would not be successful that way. Her director was pushy. My sister ended up giving the stuff from the kit away.

Anyway, I would recommend Pampered Chef - I used to do that and besides the great kit you get, you only have to agree to hold 3 shows. If you decide its not for you, you have all that great product. You never have to buy stuff to keep on hand. It was great. I just don't have the personality to sell stuff like that and that is why I don't do it anymore. Another good one is Avon.

Um, here's my advice....
DON'T DO IT!!!
If you think she is too pushy now, wait until you've signed up, and then all the "conferences" (or whatever they call them) you will feel forced into going to. it's just not worth it. MK is a good product and I love their skin care line, but I wouldn't sell it for anything. I tried that once in college and I felt like I had a dictator over me with a whip...

Don't do it. I know a few people who have been sucked into that crap. The product is expensive and in my opinion, have used much better and cheaper. You'll get caught up, and end up losing money, and having a ton of leftover Mary Kay s hit that nobody wants.

You just order as you go.... But of course...think about this...when you run out of mascura what do you do rush to the store to get it... Well if a lady calls you said she needs mascura and you tell her wait a week... she is not going to be please and most likely go get what she needs right away!

Its honestly really really hard to sell something you dont have as well! Women love to touch and test things... if there isnt something they can touch they aint going to buy! Women are just picky like that!

i turned right into a MK representative, and positioned that human beings do exactly not opt to e book activities anymore. i stumbled on it virtually no longer accessible to earn an income in spite of everything changed into reported and executed. the project is they experienced hyper-boom many years in the past, and performance yet to replace their repayment plan. I did truly nicely with it lower back contained in the days even as housewives were searching to get out once in a while, it turned right into a relaxing evening out and a touch ruin for them. Now, lots of the toddler boomers are empty nesters and no longer searching to attend activities. They purchase their products in boutiques now, and their concentration is well being and anti-ageing. it truly is quick turning out to be 1000000000000 dollar marketplace. it truly is why I chosen a house agency in well being and well being, promoting a product it truly is spreading like wildfire. it truly is proving itself over and yet back, and assisting those with vehicle immune dysfunctions, even as preventing their pores and skin from ageing. we've many instructors and medical doctors in our agency that are rapidly surpassing their cutting-edge earning.

My director is pushy, also, but I'm still glad I got into it. The discount alone is SO worth it.
