Don't you think you should just ask? What if you cooked an elaborate meal only to find he is a vegatarian or has an allergy to meat (like I do) or just doesn't care for the food you chose? That wouldn't make a very good impression now would it? And after all the work you put into the meal. If you want this meal to be a surprise, then someday when you both are talking turn the subject to food and tell him what some of YOUR favorites are. Then say it's YOUR turn to tell ME!

Since Aquarians value their freedom and eccentricities, how about shish kabobs. It's a "no strings" meal and he can take it with him if the mood gets too deep or heavy...
