When my son moved up a year in school (he is 6) he got a different teacher.
He was sad to leave his old teachers class and everyone got her flowers and chocolates, but he told me he wanted to give her something she could keep. so he drew her a picture and we put it into a frame.
So how about your daughter draws him a christmas picture and then you frame it for him.

A friend of mine's class has a very organised approach to Christmas. All the parents get together and donate a little bit of money each and get her some vouchers for a clothes shop or department store. A joint bigger present she says is much better than 30 boxes of chocolates or bubble bath!

Maybe you could be the super efficient parent that organises this for your child's teacher.

I made my teacher a christmas tree decoration once, which I think is a lovely idea, sadly my teacher was not very interested, but was delighted with the gold earrings some little boy gave her, which I think is so unfair. Chocolates are bad- they usually go in the bin, something homemade is a lovely idea, I have all the cardsa and letters I have received from children, I adore them, adn could never throw them away!

A gift certificate to a teacher's supply store (Staples, Office Max, etc.) - Teachers spend (on average) $300/year of their own money for supplies for their rooms and/or students. That's what I'D like from a parent!

That's really sweet. Well,I think the best gift is really a handmade card by your daughter showing her appreciation for her teacher. it's the encouragement that spurs the teacher to work harder... or a small handmade gift...

But if you really want to buy him something, would suggest buying red pens and stationeries since they are the most practical gifts for teachers.

A NICE BOOK IS ALWAYS A GOOD CHOICE. ADD TO THAT A HOMEMADE CARD FROM YOUR DAUGHTER. AND YOU HAVE THE PERFECT GIFT. CHECK OUT THE CLASSROOM SOME SCHOOLS ALLOW TEACHERS TO DECORATE, SEE WHAT HIS INTERESTS ARE, ANIMALS,ART, DOES HE APPEAR TO COLLECT ANYTHING IN PARTICULAR? USE THAT INFO, TO MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE,
