i remember learning in school that the rain falls on the ground, gets warmed and evaporated by the sun and rises, cools as it rises, forms clouds, and then rains again. I can't remember what it's called - any ideas?

The Hydrological cycle is the water cycle, which is what you have described. Precipitation is just rain. Condensation is when evaporated water comes out of suspension and becomes clouds. And of course, evaporation is when water is heated by the sun and breaks free of surface water.

Rain is water.. or condensed water vapor..
The cycle is driven by the weather, usually over the sea.. The sun warms the sea which causes it to evaporate!. then becoming water vapor. The vapor is carried on the wind until the air becomes saturated, once this happens the water vapor turns back into droplets and falls to ground as rain.. However if the air temperature falls to zero then the water vapor turns to ice and then falls has either hail or snow...
