Ok, I've just moved into this new house, and there is hard stuff all at the bottom of the toilet pan, and some round the edges. (sorry i dont know what its called but you must know what i mean).

What sort of person leaves thier toilet like this?

How can I remove it as bleach down the toilet doesnt work, and I've scrubbed and scrubbed it and its just not shifting?

Its limescale. You can buy harpic disolvable tablets. Chuck a couple down and leave it over night. in the morning before flushing give it a good scrub. You may need to do it a few times. When I moved into my flat my toilet was the same - dirty b*stards. These were the only things i found that worked.

First turn off the water to the pan and drain.
Mix up a blend of 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 borax.
Then put the mixture on the scaled areas and let set for a few hours before cleaning off with a scrubbing brush.

Hope that helps.

Borax should be available at larger Boots and Chemists

The crud will form from water just sitting.

Get some plastic gloves and either a kitchen scrub pad ( metal) and go after it.

Or turn off the water. Flush, pour a bucket of water in the toilet which will cause the water level to siphon and it will drop lower. Below the stain level.
That will allow you to use sink cleanser and scrub it.

It's limescale and Harpic Limescale remover will get rid of it. Put a generous amount down the toilet, leave overnight and get at it with the loo brush in the morning. Problem solved!

Sounds like you've got nasty limescale - if it's in the loo, it quite often gets stained unpleasant colours. Bleach unfortunately doesn't work on limescale but Cilit Bang, vinegar or lemon juice should dissolve it. You can also get some fairly heavy duty limescale removal products at your local supermarket or DIY store. I don't think you need to go as far as getting a new loo!

Empty the toilet bowl and squirt a load of harpic over this limescale and leave it for a good half an hour before flushing - this should deal with most of it, you may have to take alittle scrape at the rest of it, but the Harpic will have lifted it for you to make it easier - good luck

You can go to a janitorial store & ask them for
screens to clean tubs & toilets, they will know what you mean. Put some soft scrub on the stain & use this screen & scurb, it really works! You'll never know it was there! Plus it won't scratch the porcelain at all!
this will do the job!

It Limescale. Try putting coca cola down the toilet and leaving it for an hour, then clean the toilet in the normal way.

there is also a product that works like a toilet eraser it comes in a 4 inch brick (just wear gloves) kind of like an Emery board but it is for erasing hard stains in porcelain we had this kind of hard build up and I had to do the eraser and then bleach tablets in the back of the toilet keep it away but scrubing the toilet regularly is always needed
