I know a nurse (actually a distant relative) who won $37 million on PowerBall. She married another lottery winner that she met at one of their get-togethers. She always loved baseball. Once on television, she was asked if the money had changed her life. She replied, I go to a lot more games now.
She donated a lot of money to charity, set up trust funds for her kids, traveled the world, so yeah, many would say that her life improved.
She died anyway. Money doesn't seem to have a lot of effect on some issues.

I have a friend who won a lot of money on a scratch off ticket and she was able to buy a condo and have it furnished with a big screen HDTV and she seems really happy.
