I used to work at the goodwill, I love shopping there, you can find alot of good stuff especially if you have young kids cause you can buy clothes that they are going to grow out of in a couple months anyway!! You just hafta be careful of what goodwill you go to Ive been to ones that dont check there clothes for holes!

I do not think there is anything wrong with it. I'm poor, and that's where I buy most my clothes.

There is a Goodwill located in a very nice neighborhood where the folks obviously have an abundance of money. I get some great brand clothes for cheap there.

You need to be aware of what things cost when you shop at Goodwill. I have seen stuff for sale that is the same price as what I could buy new, and the thing wasn't in good condition.

I guess it'd be okay if you didn't have to sort through EVERYTHING just to find one thing you're looking for. Unfortunately, my mother used to take me in these stores ALL the time when I was younger and I hated it cause she had to go through every single thing when we went. It was never an in and out trip, so it sucked! Plus, she worked at a Salvation Army once, so after school, I was forced to stay there until she got off work. There are some real steals in consignment shops, but I'd rather go somewhere where shopping time is minimal...not much of a shopaholic.

I've found some really interesting items at Goodwill stores over the years. As long as you're patient and don't mind spending extra time going through everything they have, it's perfectly fine. Yes, sometimes it can be hit or miss. But the price is definitely right when you find something you have to have. I just wish they had one in my area and I didn't have to travel 3 hours just to find one.

I agree with some that said you can get new at Wal-mart for about the same price... BUT the quality at Wally World is not near as good as some of the name brand merchandise you get at Salvation army or Goodwill. I have clothes that have lasted years from GW and new ones that have worn out in a few months from disount stores.. ie Walmart, kmart as for the smell WASH THEM before you wear them

Nothing wrong with shopping at Goodwill. I have picked up some really nice things for very low prices. You have to go often though as new things come in every day. If you buy clothes wash them or send them to the cleaner before wearing. If you buy dishes or pots wash and dry them thoroughly before using. Good luck.

I love Goodwill! I like it because I can buy denim rip it bleach it cut it, whatever. Some people out there pay $40 or $50 for a pair of jeans that have holes and bleach spots....why do that when you spend $5 on a pair that you can make yourself???
