I would like to start looking for a job, and there is a really great job site that I found online. Instead of looking through all of the jobs and applying, I think it would be beneficial for me to post my resume on the site. However, I am afraid that someone I work with might come across my resume, and find out that I am looking for another job. What should I do to avoid this?
Can I post a resume without my name? Wouldn't that be corny and unprofessional?
Any other suggestions?

you probably wouldnt get very many responses if you dont leave your name. Alot of employers look at your resume and how professional it is, if your name is missing, they may simply overlook it. If someone sees it, tell them you posted it awhile ago and just never took it down. whats the big deal?

That's a tough one.
I don't think you will get any response from potential employers if your resume doesn't have your name on it. If you used a fake name and had to disclose that later, I don't think it would look very good for you. I suppose you could try it with a fake name, but if I were hiring, I'd think it was suspicious probably.

I don't know the situation of your current job and why it scares you for them to know, but I can tell you LOTS of people who have no intention of quitting necessarily, still keep their eyes and ears open, pursue other jobs for more money or growth or whatever.

Any employer worth working for would understand that employees can look around for other jobs, and the employer should not feel threatened by that behavior. If they do, maybe you shouldn't work for them anyway.

You could also maybe tell your boss up front that you want to look around just to evaluate the demand for your job skills, something like that.

More than likely your boss won't see your name there unless he/she happens to be hiring for your position.

Good luck!

I would go ahead and post it with the name. If anyone sees it then tell them you do want to feel the market pulse for your profile and it would help to further channelize your skills based on response. That should keep those nosy people at bay.
Good luck

I don't see the sense in posting it without your name on it, how would they know who you are or how to contact you? And why would people at your present job be looking there anyway, unless they are seeking employment elsewhere also?

Well without your name it i wouldn't consider even looking at it. I reccomend getting contact info for the company directly and appying that way
