He know's the financial situation as much as you do. Being a guy, he doesn't want or need material things.

Go out and buy a pack of index cards. Think of all the things that he likes, foods, sex, movies... whatever and write one thing down on each card, stuff like "Steak Dinner", "Terminator 3", "Roast Beef", "Oral Sex", "Sexy Lingerie", "Wild Card"... Give him 52 cards.... 1 for each week of the year and tell him that he can redeem 1 card per week. There can be duplicates (you don't need 52 different things, 26 with each one used twice... maybe 20 - a few things 3 times... whichever). By coming up with all these things, he'll know that you care because they are all things that he likes. It's a cheap (financial) gift, that gives all year. Plus, it will make X-mas night... VERY FUN!

If you just had a new baby, get him something that says he's number one day. Like a chain, or a ring, a mug......Anything to show off the fact that he's a proud new number one dad
