It is always good to include a cover letter with your resume. A cover letter is an introduction to your resume. It also allows you to be a bit more personal with the employer rather than just sending your resume by itself. Its always a good idea to open up with a cover letter. Good luck

Letters remain hugely important in our everyday lives. People still feel the need to hv something confirmed in writing. Below are some top tips for getting u letter right.
Before u begin writing a letter ask yourself.
Why I am writing this letter or what has led up to it?
What do I hope to get out of it ( my maximum aims ) ?
What do u expect to get out of it ( my realistic aims ) ?
What is the best way to achieve this?
What information do I need to provide?

Your experience should be listed within the resume NOT on the cover letter....
I would use the cover letter to introduce myself and sell myself with a personal reference describing myself on that page. When ever I have had to go over resumes I play closer attention to the cover letter and get to know the person by what they describe about themselves. Alot of the time... ethics & morals play a higher factor than experience in getting a job..if you were applying for my business anyway! : )
Best Wishes on getting the job of your dreams ! : )

It should includes the position you are applying for, where you saw it (any reference numbers or codes - if they asked you to use it.). A few lines regarding your work experience and work ethics and how it relates to the position. Mentioning of your resume attached. Your salary requirement (some people don't like to do it..so it is a personal choice - but a lot of companies require that you put it.) and lastly thanking them for the opportunity and the chance to speak to them. Good luck!

It should be broken down as follows:\
About you in some detail but nothing personal, some work history, expain why you have no worked in 6 year
Why do you want this job, what do you have to offer
A good closing, saying thank you for reading this letter, repeat contact info etc.
Keep it short, keep it neat and good luck

Dear Mr./Ms. Last Name:
I am interested in the assistant position advertised in XXX. I am currently employed as Legislative Director for Assemblywoman XXXX, Chairperson of the NYS Assembly XXX. I accepted this position because of the emphasis on the writing and research skills which are applicable to your requirements for an author’s assistant. My experience in the NYS Assembly has afforded me the opportunity to become familiar with the consolidated and unconsolidated laws of the State of New York. I also have extensive experience in legal and policy research.
In my position as Legislative Director for Ms. XXX, I prepare her personal legislation which deals with issues relative to her position as Senior Member of the NYS Assembly Standing Committee on XXXX. In as much as she is Chairperson of the XXX Committee I am, of course, heavily involved in the current welfare and medicaid reform movement.
In response to your search for a part-time assistant, I believe my experience in the Legislature, and my research and writing skills qualify me for consideration. If you would like, I can provide with current samples with my work.
To further acquaint you with the specifics of my background I am enclosing my resume. I hope you will consider me for this position. I look forward to meeting with you and discussing my qualifications in more detail.
Sincerely,
