Gay men with stuffed animals and picutures of themselves as kids on the walls of their homes? Why is this a normal practice? What do you say when you see it? Oh you were lovely as a child?

I am gay and don't have either.

It sounds like low self esteem on their parts. It also sounds pathetic...

I think it is live and let live. Eveyone has a taste, and if someone likes stuffed animals, so be it. I have been in straight MEN's homes where they had stuffed animals to theme, worked very well with decor. I have been in Gay men's homes and found Colonial (don't you just hate Colonial?), modern, leather, you name it... And I am quite sure that there are many who would consider my tastes boring. It works for me, and that is all that counts in my own home. ( now, personally, I think Teddy Bears are a bit passe, but that is just me...I am stuck in an endless loop of 'Tropics' and am planted into a coma. Just fine until it comes time to water the damned things.) IN my next incarnation, I think I would like to come back as minimalist...less work, dusting (I dusted once, that is enough), and certainly less to stubb my feet on in the dark.) Good luck and peace. And thanks for a question/comment that had nothing to do with most of what is going on here.

I have a teddy bear my husband gave me 16 years ago in a cubby in my wardrobe. You cannot normally see him because the cubby has a door. But I would never give it up for anything.

As for pictures. I had a family collage framed and matted which has picture of he and his family and me and my family together - it shows how our two families joined. I also have the most adorable picture of Joe when he was 8 and in Catholic school in the office.

I rarely have a visitor to my home that doesn't rave about our home and it decorations. I don't feel there is anything wrong with either a stuffed animal or pictures from our youth. I relish the past and enjoy sharing it in my home.

well I'm gay and I have 1 stuffed animal...a gift --a very special gift ...and I have tons of pictures of when I was a child--but never on the walls....why would anyone want to see that? I guess that's what you say..'you were lovely as a child' --it sure beats--'you haven't aged at all in 57 years':)

I get a lot of stuffed animals from various events or groups. I rotate them out to toy drives.
I like to see people's old pictures because it tells me about their history.

I've never noticed anything like that with my gay friends. I've seen a few family photos of mom and pop, who have passed, with kid. I wouldn't say it's creepy.

I don't think it's weird, it's just something that they like, stuffed animals can bring the kid out in you and remember your only as old as you feel

I'm not sure how you are experiencing this. I've known lots of gay people and never seen what you're talking about.
