Absolutely. However - make sure you have enough light for whatever plants you are wanting to go with. A simple (not scientific) measurement for this is 1 watt per gallon is low light, 2 watts per gallon is medium light, and 3 or better watts per gallon is high light.

You may also want to consider getting a DIY CO2 kit. Your plants will thrive with this in place, and just depending on what kind of substrate you have down where the plants will be plants - most can convert fishy waste into important nutrients for your plants.

Here's a great site for you to do some more research on your own...

Yes, you can add live plants to a tank with any fish, but some bigger fish will eat the plants! You won't have this problem with guppies and tetra's though!

Yes, tetras and guppies do great with live plants. Whatever you decide to put in with them, ask your pet store for the best community plants.

Good Luck

Of course, but you may have to add more substrate and possilby CO2 (some tanks do manage well without it though). Type of lighting and water temperature can be important too. If your plants don't thrive, you risk all your fish getting sick from decaying plant matter. Check out the info here http://www.liveaquaria.com/general/general.cfm?general_pagesid=215 .

live plants can go with any fish but the problem is lighting...
live plants need alot of light...even the ones that only need a "moderate" amount of light need quite a bit... the "grow light bulbs wont provide the right amount and the plant will just die.. some slower.. some faster...
here is the catch 22
The more light you try to provide for the plants... the more algae that will grow in your tank. then you have to ad chemicals to help the algae.. and that usually will hurt the live plants.....
