There are a couple of ways you can do that. The easiest & most shallow would be plastic surgery. You can look like a totally different person if you want to.
On the other hand, you can work out, and take care of yourself to change your appearance that way. Not sure what other way you are talking about.

Currently we have some control over the avatar on this site. Eventually more and more people will use the computers to communicate, and the environments will become more and more real.
In the next 200 years, we will come to a point where we will willing connect ourselves minds into the Internet, and we will work and live in virtual building and virtual rooms. We will pick our appearance, just like we pick our avatar here, and no-one will ever see the interconnected people.

It's happening everywhere. Just look at those Makeover Shows and websites on plastic surgery. A lot of people want to change their look. Only a few are satisfied with what they have. Are people more vain or what?

Well to a point, exercise, cosmetics, and styling can go so far, and plastic surgery can go a bit further, but in the end you should be happy with who you are and what you can accomplish through normal means (exercise, cosmetics and styling).
