Where are all these oil fields. Sorry to tell you but the Republicans have delayed research into alternatives sources of power. You can attempt to blame political parties but they sleep in the same bed and most of the representatives were businessmen before they began to play with politics. California is the most energy hungry state, with a swelling population, and the northeast is one of the most industrialized areas but neither political party has made any major attempt to use hydroelectric capabilities, there are no substantial tax-benefits from wind generators or other alternative energy sources. We haven't attempted to utilize geothermal, solar or tidal energy because it is against vested interests in the government.
