The colored people of South Africa have a language of their own. Do you know any good slang they use? Mine is "fadala". The meaning of it is too explicit to post on Yahoo Answers. Another fun question, guys! No need to argue.

To andy: I always use the American spelling, because the official language of the Yahoo website I'm asking this question on is American English. I also teach American English in Korea. Don't get me wrong...I love the Queen's English.

My dad used to say "ma se kind" all the time.

I can't remember anymore. When I am there and in that environment, it all comes back to me.

I have this really cool "coloured" smilie, it is the smilie with the front 2 teeth missing! LOL! Wish I could have posted it on here.

When feeling a bit run-down and not wanting any more to deal with, a good "Naai man!" does it for me.

Oh! and don't forget the power of the word "mang" (which can be used to describe the act of losing in a video game.....or another word for "prison").

Hosh (Wazz up!)
Dahla (As in hoe dahla djy?)
bratjie (diminutive of bra or pal)
Hoya (Kind of greeting like hosh can be used as exclamation)
Skud (to move away/ get away or hang out)
Ma Se Kind (Hoe gaan it met my ma se kind?)
Djy (you've got to love the way them gam boys sound like they put a D in front of almost every word that starts with a J)

There are so many. Thanks for a fun question!

I think most South Africans use the word "GATVOL". I still use the word in the UK. The meaning to those who don't understand is "FEEDUP"
