Depends where you are and how attractive your house is relative to other homes in your neighborhood. The market is slow, inventories of unsold homes is high and prospective buyers are simply playing a "lets wait and watch game". All said, if you price it right and make sure your house is "sale-ready", you will get offers. Make sure you get a good realtor who can price it right and market it well. Watch HGTV shows such as "Designed to Sell" to get a sense for how to prep your house for a sale. And then keep your fingers crossed.
We put our house on the market 3 weeks back and are on the verge of signing a contract in a town where there are 400 unsold homes. Keeping our fingers crossed the deal goes through.

I would say no. Right now new construction is hot but sales of pre exhisting houses are on the decline. I have 4 houses in my development that are for sale. All built within 1 to 5 years and prices around $400,000 to $450,000. They have been up for sale going on 4 months now. If you look to the back of my development new houses are being build all the time with no signs of stopping any time soon. The rates are going up even though they did come down some lately but in the next 3 to 4 months rates are going to go up so people are not buying like before. Wait a little while watch rates and than make a decision.

From what I've been reading, it's a buyer's market. The move might be beneficial for you, but your house may sit on the market for months!
Check out other homes for sale in your area and see the history on them, how long on the market, have they dropped the prices to become more attractive to buyers.
The interest rates are supposed to be dropping slightly so it's possible that your home may go right away, but do your research first. The good news is that you'll be able to pick up a new home in TX very easily.

Have you seen the news lately? They had a segment on the Today show yesterday about the housing market...they said if you don't need to sell DON'T until maybe the spring. According the the segment the medium price of houses had dropped for the first time in 10 years...and interest rates are climbing. Unless you have a great job lined up with a great re-location package I would wait. Check out the segment on Today.com

Usually the best time to sell is in the late spring, people tend to like to move in the summer, that way if their kids are going to a new school, they don't have to start after the school year has begun. I live in Texas and I have to say, you are making a great choice, you can say you're from Texas and people in the farthest reaches of the world know where you are talking about, and will ask you about it. Good luck.

Yikes No one knows the answer to that one. But I love Texas. As a matter of fact my ex is from Texas but then again my Cocker Spaniel is from Texas, lol.
Get those opinions from your local real estate agents that have sold property in your area not the ones that have sold properties somewhere else. Get a broker's price opinion from the local real estate agents and have them provide you with the names of the agents on the comparable sales used in the opinion.

Any time is a good time to sell your home, HOWEVER it won't sell as fast as it did the past few years. Also, homes ARE NOT selling for less than what they are worth, unless the home was over priced to begin with. As long as you price your home right and give it time, it will sell. You can't sell it for $20-$50K over what the appraisel come back at. Just not possible.

Nope... Houses all over the USA are selling for much less than what they are worth and they are also staying on the market much much longer than has been average for the last 10 years.
It's a serious buyers market these days.

Depends on what the properties similar to yours are selling for. Contact a realtor to do an evaluation for free, tell them you are thinking of selling and want an idea what your home is worth and if it would sell, you'll have your answer then.
