we dont have a dress code..tho they almost gave us one. the dress code is kinda flexible too. no gender can show thier stomach flesh. shorts have to at least reach the tip of our fingers(for the women)...guys usally dont have a prob with short clothes. cant wear tearaways or beaters and girls cant wear spagetti straps. We are allowed to wear badanas with teacher approval. no double meanings, drug influenced and swear words on clothing appearal.
as for classes/grades. its preschool then k-6th(grade school/elementary), then 7th-8th(middle/juinor high) and then 9th-12th(high school). in k-6 they are taught the basic classes like social studies, language arts/english(proper uses), science, math, art, physical education and a basic music class. once they reach 5th grade they can choose to play in the grade school band. they can choose to be in a pre-chorus group called silver rythm which is basically their chior of all these young kids.
7th-8th they are taught pre-algebra, science, social studies, english, pysical education, art, and their music class is then converted into band and then they are required to take chior. for half a quater(90 or so days) they will eventually one of the following: health, shop(wood building), music history or a home ec. class(sewing, cooking). at this point they can decided to take on jazz band, be in the musical(drama/play) or play in the pit band that plays the musicals music. they can also decide to take a speech course which is like a small group of skits that they create or they can choose to do something differnt like read a poem with emotion/action or create a short story.
in 9th-12th grade you have required courses that you must take and then you get to choose electives or classes that you want to take that you think will help you with your future job. required classes are some type of english class, a math class(3 out of the 4 years of high school), social studies class(geography, world history, american history, current events etc.) , some electives are: spanish 1-4, math for daily living, band, concert choir, chamber chior or junction 24(another chior), play/drama, band, jazz techniques, manufacturing 1-2, electricity 1-2, drawing, foundations of art, watercolor and acrylics, acrylics and oil paint, pottery, senior arts, crafts, triginometry, calculus, jow shadowing, accounting 1-2, fabrics 1-2, foods 1-2, senior carreers, physcology, biology 1-2, chemistry 1-2 and then theres some more but i cant remember thenm all.
sports that we are elegible when we go ito 7th grade include, football, track, cros coutry, volleyball, wrestling, basketball. Then in high school is track, cross country, football, volleyball, golf, baseball, wrestling, cheerleading, basketball. girls are eligible for any sports and guys are eligoble for any sport except for volleyball.
we usually get at least 2 days off for every holdiday, christmas vacation is usually form december 23rd to jan 3rd. easter vacate is usually just two days. and then thanksgiving we get liek two days. 4th of uly we jsut stay up all night and then get up for school again lol, then valentines day we party late (same as the th). on special occasions we have school dances thtat last 7:00pm to midnight or later. we nominate prom king and queen and have a dance after that. then there is formal which is for 9th-10th grade like a prom for us and then 11th-12th graders get a prom. we usually get a lot of homework. it basically dpends onthe classes that you choose....im usually up util 1 am getting it done because i only have one study hall a week and then i dont get hoem until 6 pm becuase of after school cross coutnry practice.
for ppl who are smart they go to this special program called TAG (talented and gifted) the cathc is , they are talented and gifted in acedemics so then they can take advance courses that they woudl have to usually wait to take and sometimes can even tae college courses to get them over with---which is really dumb because every so often they have a meeting and all they do is paly computer games--which is to work on a future city project , ow, any oen can create a city out of something!!! but yah, thats pretty much how my school is like. we have 1 principal and 1 supernintendent. we can take a drivers ed course when we turn 15 years old to get our school permits to drive to school and back iwthout an adult until the time of 10:00pm. at age 14 we get a drivers permit so we can drive only when a parent is with us. at the age of 16 we get our drivers linces...we cant be out after 12:00 or something liek that at 17 or 18 we have unlimited driving time whereever we want to go.
and to be eligible for sports we have to hae at least have to have a D+ in every class aka no F's to participate in sports, if we are failing a subject that means that we canot go out for sports for 20 days or until our grades improve.

Education wise, school gives you the basic skills you need to live in this world. Such as arithmatic, basic grammer and reading schools. In your everyday life you're always reading something. Whether it's road signs or the name of a shop. Just like when you're paying for something you need to know that you are getting the correct change. Socially school prepares you for how you would interact with others. Of course you are sheltered from many things in school but this is the stepping stone. Where we learn how to socialy react around others, where we learn what is and is not acceptable..

school life in the us can vary from school to school in the same city....as well as what grades are in what level - elementary, secondary (middle) or high school...in NC elementary is K-6, middle is 6-8, and then high school 9-12. homework - varies by the teacher/school. my daughter was in 6th grade last year and was covered up with homework, now in the 7th she rarely has hw. no uniforms, but a pretty strict dress code, a decent amount of holidays...don't go to an inner city school! you never know what you will get there!
