I play World of Warcraft and have trouble with lag in the large cities and instances.

Here is what my laptop currently has:

# 512MB DDR2 SDRAM
# 80GB hard drive
# ATI Radeon Xpress 200M integrated graphics

What can I do to improve my gaming experience?

Reducing the video options is the easiest thing, along with shutting down any other background programs that could be running.

From a hardware perspective, a bit more RAM might not be bad - I've seen a lot better handling in Lagforge, er, Ironforge since I added more RAM.

Being on a laptop, there probably isn't much you can do. The video card in question wasn't really designed with gaming in mind. Here is a couple things that may help.

1) Cut off all the junk running in the background to free up more ram for the game (including the anti-virus program unless playing online). Here is how:

start>run>type "msconfig" without quotes & hit enter>go to services tab & click> at the bottom, check the box that says hide all microsoft services> check all the boxes left & click disable>restart your laptop for the settings to take effect>the msconfig box will pop up, just close it & start the game.!!NOTE!!
If you cut your anti-virus program off, you need to reactivate it before getting online! Just follow the same proceedure to cut it back on.

2) try running the game on lower settings & resolution
This makes it less hardware intensive so it may run better, but at the cost of detail & effects

Honestly you computer just doesn't have the processing power to make it happen. WOW is usually meant for more power full computers (if you want to have no lag). But other than that, with what you have now. You will just have to deal with it. I'm sorry to tell you this but it is just the truth.
