I had mine done on a Friday night.....it id not hurt, not even the clamp. I just remember drooling some...lol. Anyway, mine did not swell much at all, as Saturday I was on the phone and the other party couldn't tell. I also ate pizza for lunch on Saturday. Be sure to keep Listerine with you to keep it clean, and don't smoke. Remember, your mouth heals faster than any other part of your body. I kept mine in for four months, and when I took it out it took less than six hours to heal completely.

No! Mine didn't hurt at all. I've had it done for over 3 years now. Biting your tongue hurts much worse. This needle is so sharp that you barely feel it. Some piercers will let you suck on ice before to help. The bar that you get at first is going to be really long, so when the swelling goes down get a shorter one that is the thickness of your tongue. This really helps with speaking and chipping your teeth. The tongue is one of the fastest healing organs in the body, so you will recover within a week. It takes a little getting used to, but I love mine. And as for going to work, you can always get clear retainers. I'm an engineer and mine isn't a problem. Good luck!

When I got the actual piercing done it didn't hurt at all, in fact I didn't even know it was in until the guy told me. Mine didn't bleed or anything, but swelled up a lot (they give you an extra long piercing for the first 2 weeks to deal with this). The swelling hurt the most...well when I say hurt, I mean it was uncomfortable. Eating was VERY uncomfortable too. I was starving after a week, so I just ate a huge sandwich and all of a sudden the swelling just went down.
If you are getting it done, make sure you check the place out first. I went to the place where I get all my piercings done, and it's spotless and unbelievably hygenic. I think this is why i had such a good experience.

Well it is a piece of metal being jabbed thru a muscle, it doesn't exactly tickle....
It all depends on the exact spot it's done and the person, mine was fine I felt pressure a little sting and all done...I even ate that same day, but I have had friends who cried and could only do carnation shakes for 4 days after.
Just use a lot of Listerine if it starts to throb rinse your mouth out and you should be fine, if your scared of the pain dont do it. Remember it only hurts once, and you have it forever.
Ohhh and the clamp to hold your tongue is more painful then the actual needle.

I have my tongue pierced and yes it did hurt. You feel a very sharp lasting pinch when they clamp your tongue. And when they pushed the needle through, it was extremely intense, but that pain only lasted a second. After it was done, it kinda throbbed a bit, but was mainly uncomfortable for a couple hours afterward. You will need to be careful when you eat because if you catch the barbell on your teeth and pull, it can really hurt. It happened to me a couple times. I had to teach myself to be careful when eating.
There's something else you should probably know about getting your tongue pierced. When they pushed the needle through, it was such a shock to my nervous system that I instantly started drooling like mad, though at first I thought it was blood. So if you start drooling all over yourself in the middle of it, it's normal.

Not if you look after it properly. When i had mine done i took 2 ibrofen before i went in and sucked on ice pops constantly. When you get any kind of injury your supposed to put ice on it and that's why i did this and it worked. I was eating properly the next day. Also when people ask to see it don't stick your toungue out, just open your mouth and let people look in, otherwise your more prone to catching an infection.

depends who peirces it, not having had my tongue peireced im not the best to comment but a lot of my friends have had it done, some said it hurt others said it didnt. The aftercare is the msot important thing. The peircing itself only lasts a fraction of a second.

No... they hurt. It is also unattractive. You will have a hard time finding or keeping a job if you get this done. It is also the most likely piercing to become infected.

Have you ever bitten your tongue?!?!?
When you did, did it hurt?
Well, just remember that when you bite your tongue your teeth don't usually go right through and then stay there a while!!!
So, yes, it hurts. A lot. Ok??
