I want to upgrade the CPU in my Dell Dimension 2200. What is the fastest CPU I can install. It has a Celeron 1.3Ghz in it right now. Can this board handle a Pentium or do I have to stick with Celeron?

I am a computer technician, so upgrading the computer is perfectly fine with me. I don't really want to buy a new one.

Honestly, I would buy a new computer, or you can buy a new , a cheap motherboard for 50 to 100 plus possessor 230ish for 2.8 to 280ish for 3.4, and chances are you will have to buy new memory at least 100, but then your using a new board and chip and memory with an old power supply, hard drive, and so on and so on. Where does it end? Unless you really no your stuff about building one, your better off just buying one, IF you just wanted to upgrade possessor, go to dell and look up your machine my service tag number to see what you computer can handle, they vary motherboard to motherboard but in MOST cases on computer that old, not worth the expense. If its a Celeron, It will only take another Celeron, which are slower chips

Dell is very picky with it's boards. You may have to stick with the Celeron.
