Avoid them!!

Well since they are family, giving up on them is not an option. Learn to accept the things you cannot change about them. Decide whether they are making your life miserable or just annoying at times. Then decide how much of them you can take. Sometimes you do need your own hiatus to get away. But remember, no regrets, once they are gone you'll never get them back.

So true and so sad unfortunately. The only thing is to avoid them. I have cut ties with my one and only relatives here in Australia and in a way it hurts as I don't know anybody and I would have loved my son to have an aunt.

I do want myself and my son surrounded by lovely people with beautiful auras and genuine so I prefer to surround myself with friends which have a positive influence on our lives.

Talking about them behind their backs with relatives you actually like usually works for me. That way you can turn all the things you hate about them into a joke. The main reason I get along so well with my cousin is that we both hate my brother - whenever he gets on my nerves, I call her up and we moan about him together and then I feel much better.

I have an aunt that gossips and talks about everyone, I got tired or it , so when she done it the last time I told her all the bad things about her family. Now she doesn't bother me at all, matter of fact, if she See's me she goes the other way. good luck Judy

ditch em. in the words of diamond (the playas club) "sometimes blood aint no thicker than water."

unless you live with em, you have the freedom to pick relatives just as easily as you can friends.

Make your friends your new family.

I banned my family from my life. I have always hated them and they way they treated me. I am now happy and free from their drama, belittleling and manipulation.

My new family are my friends. I love them all and depend on them. They have been there for me when my own family wasn't. Just so you know, my teenage years are long gone,. so this is not about being rebellious.

Good lcuk

Immediate family - not much just tolerate them.

Extended [not bro sis mum or dad butoutwrd thereof] - you can just slowly grow 'apart' and then stop talking. You have no obligation to keep in touch or keep talking just because you are related.

[That sounds mean but sometimes it is necessary. Personally i like to keep my extended family at arms length.]
