Very occasionally I've had problems with work colleagues, though most with negative views don't express them in front of me.

I have never had a bad reaction or problem with a boss because I was out at work.

Its hard at work being of a alternative lifestyle. You can't just say, " Yeah me and my wife went to the movies last night" I mean its not like your in the closet and its not like you advertise either or are embarrassed, I'm just painfully aware of not being heterosexual at work. Heteros talk to and about their spouses at work, if I did that I would be announcing my homosexuality.
My boss made alot of negative comments and even gay bashing statements about gays when I first came to work here, so therefore I was extremely careful not to disclose my sexual orientation. So basically what I'm trying to say is, I've learned not to be "out" at work. To hell with them people, my lovely wife is at home waiting for me when I get off and I talk to her often at work. I'm quite sure my coworkers and boss have their suspicions about me, but thats all it will every be suspicions and office gossip, they shall never know the truth. I have to work with these people 40+ hours a week and I don't need any extra turmoil at work, however I could care less about what they think of me.

Simple question, doesn't deserve a Gay Tirade that you have gotten. In my life, I have worked for only one Gay man, had zero problems with him, I did my work well, he did his well, and we didn't socialize until AFTER I had left the job. I found him to be constructively critical (helped me get better at what I did), and overall, very fair. IN fact, we co-published several papers in the Virology field together. I did the grunt work and designed the experiments, he did the writing (which, at that time, I hated) and it worked out well for all concerned. Good luck

My boss and I used to get around very well and then she found out that I was gay and then things went down hill from there. I reported her to human resources and ever since than she's been sucking up again.

Why is this exclusive to gays. All kinds of people have bosses they don't like. Go to a gay chat if you want to know about gays and their bosses specifically.

why would your sexuality have any thing to do with how you do your job?just because a person is gay wont make him unable to do certain jobs ,a gay guy can operate a forklift just as well as a straight guy .Who you sleep with shouldnt cause problems at work ,unless you get caught doing it there,,

Nope. I don't hide, even though it may take them a few weeks to figure it out. I don't have problems like that, I also have no problem bringing people up on charges when they harass me. All Companies have clauses that cover sexual harassment even if their bylaws don't cover sexual orientation. I have no problem with seeing someone, ANYONE, that harasses me kicked to the curb or suing a place for attempting to fire me unjustly.

You don't have to be gay to have a problem with the boss.

never had any problems..just went to work and did the best job I could...I never cared what they thought...but I was on the forefront of fighting for gay rights at work..ie samesex benefits.
