I have not noticed this. They do have professionals that whole job revolves around knowing what the public wants and what the public will buy. If the ad's are aiming towards black people that must be because in their stats it shows that there is more of a market if they aim their brand towards black people.

Any person that has a higher than grade 3 education knows this.

Furthermore... Why does it matter? I really don't think it has anything to do with who has more money or not. If that is what someone (Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, Latino etc...) wants to buy... Then I think that is what they are going to buy.

My old white grandpa wears Reebok's... does that mean that they should now change their market to people over 65?

It's sometimes amazing how someone will notice if a market targets African heritage people but don't say a word when it's geared towards Anglo's. There was a time when African heritage people weren't even considered a market goal and there are companies to this day who do not use them in advertising. Nobody is trying to take anything away from the "whites"! It's that kind of paranoia and jealousy that has caused racial divides. Lighten up. In the same respect, African heritage money is just as green as the money "whites" use.

It is a well known marketing fact that young black men and women are more "brand conscious" than their white counterparts. And since they seem to have a lot of money to spend on all the "right" clothes, they are more in evidence as a specific target market.

Be thankful that your race is no longer perceived as being driven by consumer envy, in all things, and just accept it as a sign of the changing times.

Targeting specific groups with specific brands or products is not new. Watch TV and notice that saturday morning always shows toy and game ads because kids are more likely to watch then.....its coomon stuff in advertising. My guess is that the African American community is targeted because of some factor that marketers have picked up on and realize they may be the group most likely to buy this product.

Because obviously the "black" pound is stronger thanthe "white" pound in that area. Is there anything wrong with that? Washing up powder etc is aimed at females...but we don't see that as being a problem. Just good marketing.

Does it realy matter who its aimed at? At the end of the day if we dont want racism to occur it doesnt matter who its amed at. I work in a sports shop and regardless of race and age everyone buys any brand they want, i mean ecko is aimed at a predominantly black audience but you get alot of white people buyin it too and that shouldn't be a problem.

They obviously see the market potential, some of the trends start with the coloured comuntities and spread more rapidly through the fashion sector as a result.

Nothing wrong with that is there?

Trainers are and sports gear are an integral part of what one might call 'modern black culture'.

I would say that this 'modern black culture' is not just exclusive to black people... its about 'street-style', certain sports, certain music and fashions.
