I moved over from england to ireland to be with my man.I love him to bits, but I'm finding it hard to get a job as I'm living in a very rural area.I'm a nurse and had a great job and feel like pulling my hair out at times. I've now resorted to painting the house. What do I do when I run out of rooms???

If you don't need to work outside the home, and you have the space, you could try taking up a hobby like raising goats, sheep, or miniature ponies. Having a medical background is often very helpful when tending animals. They'll give you plenty to do during the day, and you might even be able to start a business of your own with them.

Volunteer to paint some rooms in the local hospitals. There must be at least one nearby. Get a bicycle and cycle there; it'll cheer you up and keep you in great shape! By then you should be professional enough (though you didn't say how many rooms you will be running out of). Everyone thinks hospitals are too gloomy anyway, so it would be a nice thing to do. You will make new friends too, and some of them might be influential enough to help you work as a nurse again ...
In fact, your future looks very bright! You will so popular "Oh, she's the Nurse that painted all those lovely murals of Old Irish legends " etc.

I'm in a similar position, though not so bad as I'm in a town, and only 5 hours away from where I was, what about the garden, I've done that as well as painting the house. It depends on the money situation really but evening classes, joining the gym, are good ways to kill time if you have some to spare, otherwise consider appropriate voluntary work- you could be in the right place when a position does come available, you could also start on the family!! Good luck, it's tough, but it'll be worth it!

Paint the house, good idea. Then re-decorate the rest of the house. Then plant some flowers or hang some flower baskets. Then start exercising in the morning, go for walks or a jog. Take the dog if you have one. or maybe its time to get a new kitten. Just look for a job and have a good attitude. Dont give up, have faith and you will find the right job. Good luck!

Paint outside. Why not join a local book group or something in that vain? Surely they are crying out for nurses that can paint in Ireland?

Well enjoy your life as a housewife. HAve fun and have lots of kids. If you love your man that much your gonna have to sacrifice a lot of things you once loved. Or you can always try to convince him to move to england. Talk to him about it or decide whether or not you want to be a nurse anymore.

paint the outside of the house next. They have some very colourful houses over there. Then if you live near the coast take up surfing, theres some great waves over there and it will keep you fit.

There isn't a hospital or doctors office in your town or a town over? Put in applications. And don't worry. Work around the house is never done. Now kiss your man to bits and remember why you moved there.

If your man wanted you to come he should not care if u have a job or not. he has lived there, he shoulda had ideas or something lined up for you, if he didnt then what are you moving soo far for? shouldnt you have planned things out?
now if no work is gonna make you not be able to support yourself, then you tell him that since you cant find work you have to move back or somehwere else where there is work.

get a mode of transportation and get a job at a local hospital or mds office but im not sure if your degree can be used in the UK if you are from the states or othe countries.you may have to take a test to prove you are competant enough to be a nurse.take all your degrees and a list of employers so you can be prepared.
