It is murder, wrong!!!
Helping some one kill themselves is wrong.
Why would it be RIGHT?

Like abortion this is not a "black-white" issue, for me at least this is a grey area. I don't think it should be flat-out illegal or 100% legal, rather it should be a case-by-case issue. I mean if someone is in constant pain is and is near death then they should be allowed to choose if they want to stop it. However if someone is terminal and just doesn't want to live the next 6 months then assisted suicide shouldn't be an option, unless extenuating are present.

I think in the case of an older person, or someone who has a disease or illness that drastically changes their quality of life, then if they choose to do that with the help of the doctor, why should that bother me? Religious people have a problem with it, because they say sucide is a sin. I don't think younger people who are depressed because they broke up with their boyfriend/girlfriend should run to the doctor and say, "Help me kill myself - quick!" But if you are 90 years old, lying in a hospital bed, and every breath you take is painful, than what's the point of living? As long as you are in sound mind and can make that decision for yourself (or if you have power of attorney to your family), I see nothing wrong with assisted suicide.

If somebody is in great pain and dieing with no hope of recovery then it is like euthanasia for it is ending suffering in a hopeless case. The problem is in who decides to end a life. If the decision is by others then it opens up to abuse, and murder can happen by design. How do you decide when it is murder, and what about suicidal people who are just depressed for the moment and would recover on their own or with minimal therapy?
It is another simple sounding proposition that becomes very complicated fast.

Well TECHNICALLY, theres no such thing as ASSISTED suicide...because the term SUICIDE means to KILL ONES-SELF...and being ASSISTED kinda cancels out the BY ONES SELF logic of it!

In terms of Euthenasia (or howeva u spell it), i think that its unfair to deny someone their right to live or not, because only THAT person knows the pain and suffering that he is going through.

I find it fascinating that people will decline a request for someone who is bedridden for the rest of their life the option of dying peacefully... yet no one seems to start an outcry whenever a family decides to (pull the plug) so to speak when a loved one is being kept alive by life support machines!

Never the less...hope your debate goes well!

I think if terminally ill people wanna die, they should be able to if they want! If someone has a brain tumor the size of baseball and is in a heinous amount of pain, who I am to say no its "morally wrong". I get to sit here and type on my computer, I'm not in a bed begging for someone to kill me. I don't personally know what being that sick feels like, so go Dr.Kevorkian!

I think that if the person who is going to be having it done is of sane mind and wants it done they should be allowed. Why is it that when a pet is sick and dying we are allowed to assist them in dying but not a human?? Does that mean we care more about our pets pain and suffering than we do a human????

I believe that terminally ill utterly miserable people should be able to choose to end their life with the help of a doctor. I see no problem with it. it is your life, you should be able to do as you wish with it.

It is inappropriate, the person asking to be killed should suffer miserably.
