Next month is my son's first birthday and of course he should have his own little cake like every other child on his first birthday but I would like to bake or buy a sugar free cake. Does anyone have any ideas on where to find recepies or if I can actually purchase them without having to bake one myself?

in our grocery store, they have a section for diabetics. That's where you can start for sugar free cake mixes and icings to make your own. Or you can go to http://www.splenda.com or http://www.diabetes.org and use their recipes.

I have never seen a sugar free cake in the stores, but maybe you can ask at the bakery counter in your local grocery and see if they can make something. If not it has been said any cake recipe can use splenda to replace sugar. By the way is there any reason why your child cant have sugar? It is not like they are going to get even close to eating the whole thing. I think my daughter had like 2 bites out of hers. Actually I did not even serve her the cake I got for the other party guests . I bought a package of shortcakes (like the kind you put berries on in the summer that come in a 4 pack) and put a scoop of ice cream in the middle and added a little whipped cream and that was that. (The bakery I got the cake at did not make the little individual cakes, that is why she did not get her own little cake).

If you have any kind of bakery's near you, not Kroger or walmart then they will be able to make you a sugar free cake. If not then get a recipe on line for a sugar free or sugar substitute like splenda cake. You will never know the difference. Splanda is safe for the baby too.

I'm sure if you went to the bakery section at Food Lion or any grocery store and asked, they might bake sugar-free cakes. If they do then ask if they would make a small one for your little ones 1st birthday. I'm sure they would do it. And you could probably get any kind of design on it. Worth a try. Good luck and Happy Birthday to your son!

Wal-Mart has a very good bakery when it comes to Cakes. They have a book where you choose the round or square cake with cute toppings they put on it. For a Boy ,sometimes a train with track is cute. I had that on my cake for my son for his 1st. Of course now he's 16. Most grogery stores have good picks. If you do one yourself use some of the kids small toys. When my daughter was 7 she loved the Lion King so i baked a round cake and put the cute tiny Lion King toys she had on her cake and she loved it!

Well, sugar free will be hard. Try allrecipes.com they have a ton of recipes there and you can reduce the size of the recipe too so you can make a small one just for him. My suggestion though would be to get what ever favorite pudding flavor that he likes (you can get those sugar free) and make him a bowl of pudding and freeze it in a pie dish. That way it's kind of cake formed and hard enough to put candles in and most important you know he'll love it and you'll get good messy pictures too.

For our woman descendant, we had 2 first birthday events. One at homestead - tiny birthday section for only 3 human beings. I made a carrot cake & a carrot cup cake with cream cheese icing. I used little or no brown sugar & oil for the recipe. social gathering became a week later because of the two gransparents' time table. We rented a social gathering place the place they provides food & cake. We have been given ice cream cake from chilly Stone. childrens enjoyed it of direction my infant did. I enjoyed it much extra so finshed the left overs. :) Do despite you desire to do. i attempted the two healthful selfmade & shop offered. the two artwork okay. it is purely a social gathering.

Sugar free cakes in stores have chemical sweeteners. How about making a small cake using raw unrefined sugar?
